Based on Yoshiko's sketch of the spring time in California Central Coast, this linoleum block print evokes what everyone loves about California landscapes: gently curving distant hills, the silhouette of eucalyptus trees, clumps of old oaks, and of course, brilliant California poppies. . . The title of this print is based on a 1901 poem written by Sarah J. Day:
T'is the time of the poppies;
The fields are aflame;
And looking down;
From the mountain crown;
The way whence we came;
At the canyons mouth lie acres unrolled;
Glowing and gleaming with molten gold.
This triptych was printed on hand-carved blocks and polymer blocks. First Yoshiko hand carved two outline blocks. Then she hand-cut stencils in order to make nine more color printing blocks made of hard polymer material. Printed on 100% cotton acid-free, Rives BFK paper. Signed & limited edition of 210 .
Signed Limited Edition of 210. Matted size: 29.75" x 15.5". (Matted Print Only Out of Stock/Sold Out)
