Case Study, Ravenswood Family Health Center
Working together with health center executives and the Mural Music & Arts Project leaders, we were able to help design the framing for the upcoming opening of East Palo Alto's new Ravenswood Family Health Center.
Working on a quick time frame and tight budget we were able to help the health center realize its goals in time for an upcoming Opening Celebration for the surrounding community.
It was a pleasure working with Lisa Robertson-Beery, a project leader and coordinator for the Mural Music & Arts Project. The MMAP team was proud of the collective effort to create and curate this art collection for the Ravenswood Family Health Center. We also enjoyed working with Luisa Buada, RN, MPH, Chief Executive Officer of Ravenswood Family Health Center.
Ravenswood Family Health Center: is a nonprofit federally qualified community health center based in East Palo Alto, California, providing healthcare for the underserved, uninsured and most vulnerable low-income residents of communities in southeastern San Mateo County. As a community health center, their purpose is to remove the barriers -whether financial, geographic, linguistic or cultural –that prevent people from seeking and receiving health care..
The art collection at RFHC is inspired by textiles, cultural symbols, tribal markings and motifs from cultures represented in East Palo Alto and reflected in the diversity of the RFHC leadership staff. These cultural symbols, paintings, textiles and bas-reliefs are derived from African, Pacific Island, Latin American, Mexican and Pre-Columbian / Meso-American and Native American cultures.
