Every job is expertly installed.

The project involved working with a small and delightful volunteer board representing The Friends of Men’s Crew, along with the coach for Cal Crew, Steve Gladstone. In this instance we were asked to step in to a project previously begun by another framer. Some of our work involved exact matching of existing frames, with upgrades for ultraviolet protection, while much of the work involved new projects.
Meeting a deadline for an important event, we were asked to produce 18 plaques to be strategically placed throughout the building,. In addition, we needed to come up with a design, which would enhance the cedar-paneled walls of this magnificent building, as well as bring University of California colors into the project. We chose a heavy brass plaque engraved using a black color fill with each donor’s information, which we checked and double-checked through several drafts with donor sources and Crew management. We asked our plastics fabricator to produce a sand blasted deep blue acrylic as a base for the plaques. We then framed each mounted plaque with a solid, natural-oiled cherry wood frame from Picture Woods in Colorado. The result was an impressive presentation, a fitting compliment for each large donor for the building project.

Careful clean up is part of our work. |
The Friends of Men’s Crew also asked us to frame an enormous original 1948 Olympic Flag . As we researched the project, we realized that the framed flag would be too large to fit through our production facility doors. We enlisted the help of Painter’s Place in Berkeley, who framed the piece for us. We then worked with Atthowe Fine Art Services who delivered and installed the finished piece. The installation involved three trucks, one crane, and at least eight capable art installers from Atthowe. The all day installation was kicked-off with a small party of Crew members and families from the 1948 team who watched the dramatic entry of the flag from a safe distance.
Finally, we worked with crew memorabilia, framing several series of racing photos and original crew team sweaters dating from 1905
In 2007 we were pleased to provide calligraphy and frames for the winning California Crew photos at the Henley Royal Regatta. In 2008 Cal Crews won thier races again and we installed framed winning boat photos and began a new project, providing frames for the new Olympian's Wall in the Gladstone Training Room..
