Wayang is the Javanese word for shadow and has come to mean not only the puppet itself but the whole puppet theatre performance.They are low-relief 3D objects that require a raised mat to elevate the glass and hand sewing to secure them to the background. We framed this highly decorated Wayang with a dark blue acid free mat background, a raised, red silk covered mat cut with a reverse bevel, and a textural gold frame.
