Yoshiko Yamamoto_s Grove Park Inn - Sunset

This  month we're featuring Yoshiko Yamamoto's most recent print, Grove Park Inn - Sunset. The Grove Park Inn is an historic resort hotel in Asheville, North Carolina,  on the western-facing slope of Sunset Mountain in the Blue Ridge Mountains. This February, the Grove Park Inn The hosted the 30th Anniversary National Arts & Crafts Conference.

The intricate outline of this print was carved from china-hangi by Yoshiko while all 14 color polymer blocks were made in her studio from hand-cut stencils by Taylor Cox.  This signed limited edition of 250 comes with acid free matting and backing (21" x 12.5") for $120. 3 Fish Studio's California Rising
California Rising & California Keeper Prints
Three Fish Studios California Rising Print and California Keeper Post Cards
3 Fish Studios, creator of the popular " I Love You California" series, has produced an outstanding icon for the spirit of California. Inspired by a moving statement issued by the California Legislature following the national election, artist Eric Rewitzer felt compelled to represent California rising up and stirring into action.

The 14" x 24" California Rising print (above left) was featured in TIME Magazine the week of February 7, 2017. It depicts a roaring bear standing in a field of poppies, with an antique map of California in the background. Printed using 8-color UltraChrome K3 inks on 300 gsm Archival Hot Press Bright paper, the print is available for $65.

The 8" x 10" California Keeper poster (above right) collages the inspiring California Legislature quote along with the California Rising bear. $25
We The People Prints
Art For Social Awareness & Change
Framed We The People Prints
Eight years ago, artist Shepard Fairey made the iconic Obama HOPE poster. Today we are in a very different moment that requires new images rejecting the hate, fear, and open racism that were normalized during the 2016 presidential campaign. On Inauguration Day, We the People Posters flooded Washington, DC. using public art to ignite a national dialogue about American identity and values.
These timely images are now available to download for free from The Amplifier Foundation web site. You can print them yourself or, if you wish, we can print them for you. The images are free, you would pay only for the printing and/or framing.
Restoration of the Month

Restoration of the Month
This photograph of a female impersonator from the 1950s required a complete digital makeover. The original white had yellowed, black had faded to blue, the emulsion was cracked and the surface badly stained. In fact, this photograph was so badly damaged that our usual restorer refused to take on the job. Our Graphics Manager, Mike, used his own Photoshop skills to recreate the image. Find out what Mike can do for you!

Installation in SFMOMA_s _Japanese Photography from Postwar to Now_ Exhibition
If you haven't visited the newl SFMOMA, doing so should be on your Bay Area bucket list. What started as an addition to display 1,100 artworks on loan from the Fisher family has ended up with more than 4,000 new works in the largest modern and contemporary art museum in America and the largest museum by gallery space of any kind in Northern California. SFMOMA's 145,000 square feet of gallery space is now 20,000 square feet larger than the Museum of Modern Art in New York.

In the coming months we will bring you installation and framing ideas and exhibition news from the SFMOMA and other local museums and galleries.

This month we are focusing on a tightly arranged installation of photographs in the Japanese Photography from Postwar to Now exhibit. The 25 photographs are the same size, arranged in a vertical format. It isn't essential that each image be exactly the same so long as they are 'close'. What is important is that each frame be the same exterior dimensions. The matting can compensate for any discrepancy in image size.

Each of the mats are inscribed with the artist's notation for the work. Using our VALIANI computerized mat cutter, we can do this for you too! See many more of our specialty cut mat options HERE!.
